Menopause Doctor
MBChB (South Africa), PGCTravMed, MEDSAC
Janice is a South African–trained General Practitioner with a special interest in menopause and women's health. She completed her medical degree (MBChB) in 2007 and worked in primary care for several years before moving to New Zealand. Now based in Palmerston North, she spends much of her time offering menopause care to the wider community, and also holds a Certificate in Travel Medicine from the University of Otago (PGCTRAVMED). Janice's passion for menopause care grew from personal experience. After navigating unexpected physical and emotional changes herself, she realised she was going through perimenopause — and saw first-hand how confusing this stage of life can be. It inspired her to further her education in menopause medicine, and supporting women through the transition has since become one of the most rewarding parts of her career. A Certified Menopause Practitioner and member of the Australasian Menopause Society, Janice is passionate about evidence-based, compassionate care that helps women understand their bodies and make informed decisions about their health. She also works as an accredited forensic examiner for MEDSAC and has a strong interest in lifestyle medicine — working with women to optimise their health through nutrition, exercise, and sustainable change. Outside of medicine, she's a wife and mother of three, a strong advocate for strength training and healthy ageing, and recently completed her first half marathon and first doubles HYROX event. "No woman should have to navigate menopause alone, and I feel privileged to support women through this rollercoaster ride. I often say it truly takes a village — and I am honoured to be part of yours."
