How long is an initial consult? +

This allows time to properly explore your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and treatment options.
Follow-up appointments are shorter and are designed to review progress, adjust treatment and answer questions.

How quickly can I usually get an appointment? +

Appointment availability varies depending on demand.

Most women are able to book an appointment within a few weeks, although times can vary throughout the year.

You can see all of our available appointments online under the Book Consultation tab

We also provide your initial prescription, blood testing and any referrals to other providers as needed.

Treatment & hormones

Do I need blood tests before booking? +

No.

You do not need blood tests before their first consultation. Your doctor needs to fully understand your medical history and circumstances before we can order bloods and this can only be done by conducting the consult.

If any tests are needed, we will organise these after your appointment and send the forms directly to the lab.

Do you offer repeat prescriptions? +

Yes, we can.

Please use Visit the ‘Patients’ page to order your script. Please note that you must already be a patient of Menodoctor to use this service

What if hormone therapy is not right for me? +

While HRT is the gold standard for menopause symptoms, for a small amount of women, HRT does not agree with them.

Our doctors and health practitioners can discuss non-hormonal treatment options, lifestyle strategies and other approaches depending on your symptoms and preferences.

What sort of hormones do you prescribe? +

We prescribe pharmaceutical-grade bio-identical hormones in the form of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone, tailored to each woman’s individual needs.

We do not prescribe compounded hormones because the purity and quality of these products cannot be guaranteed.

What happens if I need a prescription? +

If medication is appropriate, your doctor will send the prescription directly to your chosen pharmacy.

Your treatment plan will also be summarised in the consultation letter you receive after your appointment.

If you need a repeat prescription, you can order this under the ‘patients’ tab on our website.

Costs & insurance

Do you offer payment plans? +

Yes, if you don't have afterpay we can offer you a 'pay in 4' payment plan which is set up using GO CARDLESS. All you need is a bank account in order for us to set this up.

Please call us on 07 242 4600 to set this up

How do I book with Afterpay? +

To use Afterpay, select the dedicated Afterpay booking option during the booking process.

Because it is separate from the main booking system, you will receive a payment link by email a few minutes after booking, giving you 7 days to complete payment through Afterpay.

If you have any issues, contact the clinic team for help.

How do I pay for the consultation? +

Payment is made at the time of booking through our secure online booking system.

Can I use my health insurance or Southern Cross rebate? +

If you have private GP cover specified in your Southern Cross or other health insurance policy, you may be able to claim back some or all of the consultation cost depending on your policy, available limits and circumstances.

Please check your policy wording directly, or check with your insurer for the most accurate information.

Please note that this is different to specialist cover. Even though Menodoctor is classified as Specialist GPs, insurers often classify specialists differently.

If you have GP cover, you usually pay for the appointment first, then request an invoice from us after the appointment so you can submit your claim.

What are your prices? +

All od our prices can be found on the pricing page (CLICK HERE)

Who we help

Can I book if I am over 60? +

Definitely.

While menopause symptoms are more common in the 40s and 50s, some women experience symptoms for much longer.

We will work with you to treat those symptoms.

Can I book if I am under 40? +

Yes.

While menopause symptoms are more common in the 40s and 50s, some women experience earlier hormonal changes. If you are experiencing symptoms that concern you, a consultation can help explore possible causes.

Can you help if I’ve had cancer (including breast cancer)? +

In many cases yes (including breast cancer). Treatment options can vary depending on your history, so this will be discussed carefully during your consultation.

Do you treat women in perimenopause? +

Yes.

Many symptoms begin years before menopause itself. Menopause is technically the 365th day after your final period.

Before that point you are considered perimenopausal, and symptoms can still be significant during this stage.

Perimenopause usually starts in your 40's but for some women it can start in their 30's

How do I know if Menodoctor is right for me? +

If you are in perimenopause or postmenopause and symptoms are affecting your quality of life, Menodoctor may be a good fit.

Common concerns include hot flushes, poor sleep, anxiety, low mood, brain fog, fatigue, low libido and other hormone-related changes.

What symptoms can Menodoctor help with? +

Practical questions

Can I start with the Menopause Guide before booking? +

Yes. The Menopause Guide is a good place to start if you are not ready to book yet and want to better understand symptoms, treatment options and the support available

Can I still see my normal GP? +

Yes.

After your consultation (with your permission) we send a detailed summary letter to you and your GP outlining the plan discussed during the appointment

I’m based overseas. Can I still have an appointment? +

Yes. We can offer advice to women based outside New Zealand, however we are unable to prescribe medications overseas.

We can help with advice on how to approach your local GP or doctor and provide a referral-style letter summarising your symptoms and suggested support options.

What happens after my first appointment? +

After your first consultation, you will receive a personalised plan.

That may include prescriptions, investigations, referrals and a summary letter for you and your GP.

You can then book follow-up care as needed and use Menodoctor’s aftercare services where appropriate.

No FAQs matched your search. Try a word like sleep, HRT, insurance, anxiety, booking, or prescription.
