About Menodoctor
Menodoctor was founded by Dr Linda Dear and her husband Dan after their own experience with perimenopause showed them how confusing and difficult this stage of life can be — not just for women, but for couples and families as well.
We created Menodoctor because we know what it feels like when menopause affects everyday life at home, at work and within a family. We wanted to build the kind of care we wish had felt easier to find — compassionate, informed and genuinely supportive.
Linda & Dan Dear, FoundersWhy We Started Menodoctor
Menodoctor did not begin with a business plan.
It started in our own home.
After the birth of our second child, Linda began experiencing symptoms that neither of us initially recognised as perimenopause.
Even though Linda is a doctor, it still took time to realise what was happening.
The impact was felt not just by Linda, but by us as a couple and by our family more broadly. Like many families, we were juggling work, young children and everyday responsibilities while trying to understand what was going on.
Once Linda recognised the symptoms and began treatment, everything started to make sense.
That experience made us realise something important.
If a doctor could struggle to recognise perimenopause in her own life, how many other women and families were going through the same thing?
Bringing Compassion to Menopause Care
We know that some women move through perimenopause and menopause with relatively few symptoms.
But many do not.
For a large number of women, the symptoms can be confusing, frustrating and at times overwhelming — and too often they are told to simply get on with it.
We wanted to build something different.
Menodoctor was created to bring a more compassionate and supportive approach to menopause care — helping women, couples and families understand what is happening and find the right treatment options.
Our aim is to make sure women feel heard, informed and properly supported at a stage of life that can otherwise feel very isolating.
A husband and wife team bringing compassion to menopause care
Menodoctor combines lived experience with specialist medical care to create a service designed to genuinely support women, couples and families navigating perimenopause and menopause.
Dr Linda Dear
Linda completed her medical studies at the prestigious University College London (UCL) in London.
Following graduation, she worked for four years in hospitals in the United Kingdom before moving to New Zealand, where she completed her General Practice training.
Over the course of her career, she has developed a strong professional interest in women’s health, particularly the changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause.
At Menodoctor Linda leads the clinical direction of the service, trains and supports the medical team, and oversees the health practitioner team.
Linda is a Certified Menopause Practitioner and a member of The Menopause Society, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based menopause care and ongoing specialist education in this area.
Outside of medicine, Linda has always had a strong interest in movement and wellbeing. She is a qualified yoga teacher and previously represented Great Britain as a gymnast, winning a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Her personal experience of perimenopause after the birth of their second child — combined with her medical background — ultimately led Linda and Dan to create Menodoctor.
Dan Dear
Dan started Menodoctor with Linda after seeing first-hand how perimenopause can affect not only a woman, but also her partner, children and wider family life.
Prior to founding Menodoctor, Dan spent many years building and running consumer businesses, particularly in the health food and supplement sectors. His experience spans brand development, e-commerce, digital marketing and the creation of digital platforms that support customer engagement and service delivery.
This background has helped shape the way Menodoctor has been built — combining Linda’s clinical leadership with systems, technology and processes designed to make specialist menopause care easier to access and easier to navigate.
Within the clinic Dan manages the operational side of the business, including customer service and patient experience. He also oversees marketing, finance, digital systems and the operational infrastructure that supports the wider health practitioner team.
His focus is on ensuring the clinic runs smoothly for patients while building the digital platforms, processes and support systems that allow Menodoctor to grow and reach more women who need specialist menopause care.
